Leading the charge is our award winning CEO, Sarah Jardine.
Sarah has ~30 years experience in photonics manufacturing, with 20 years experience in retinal imaging with industry leader Optos.
Sarah brings an incredible wealth of expertise to the epipole table, in both product development and manufacturing, and her leadership skills and style are directly responsible for epipole being such a fantastic place to work.
Behind her are a team of international experts in their fields, all dedicated to following her lead; we have doctors in engineering and computing, a passionate and enthusiastic sales and marketing team (with 50+ years experience between them!) and hugely talented Production and Design teams too.
All of this is backed by a fantastically connected and experienced Board of Directors, ensuring we have the skills, the motivation, and the backing to make epipole the huge success we know it can be.
After spending the early part of his career in FMCG and retail, Paul become first CFO of DySIS, a leading manufacturer of colposcopes, in 2008. In 2013 he became CFO of Roslin Cells, an early manufacturer of induced pluripotential stem cells and CDMO for cell therapies. Following a period working as portfolio finance director for a range of early-stage medical device companies Paul joined epipole in 2017.
Paul has a career fund raise of £300m, holds a microbiology degree from Imperial College, London and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG in Cardiff.
Hugh Stewart is Chairman of Shackleton Ventures, which invests in technology companies with potential to accelerate the energy transition, enhance human health, or deliver impact through digital transformation.
He has over 30 years’ experience in venture capital, having started with 13 years with Electra Investment Trust. In 1997 he founded Strathdon Investments and as CEO led it from start-up to AIM flotation prior to leaving in 2006 to form Shackleton.
Since then, Shackleton has achieved twenty-nine profitable exits, resulting in strongly positive returns for all four principal funds with long-term annual returns averaging 15%.
Hugh holds an Economics degree and an INSEAD MBA with distinction.
Ian is a graduate of Edinburgh University, former Royal Air Force officer and chartered accountant who worked for KPMG from 1991 to 1997.
Between 1998 and 2007 Ian was employed by retinal imaging company Optos, firstly in the role of CFO and then as General Manager North America.
From 2007 to 2010 Ian was CEO of surgical medical device company Mpathy Medical and from 2011 to 2017 he was CEO of advanced prosthetic manufacturer Touch Bionics.
Since then, Ian has been the CEO of Bsolve Dental – a Scottish company specializing in the design and manufacture of innovative dental products and solutions.
With over 30 years of commercial experience in optometry and ophthalmology, Thomas Daniells has worked for small private companies and large publicly traded companies leading the sales and marketing teams to success.
His career has spanned international and domestic markets, the surgical suite and healthcare clinics, reimbursement and patient pay structures and private and public financial reporting requirements. Currently he is Vice President of US Surgical Sales leading a team of 110 sales professionals for Bausch and Lomb (BLCO).
Tom has also worked for Alcon Laboratories, Becton Dickinson, Optos and BioTissue in commercial leadership roles. In the last 20 years, he has reported to CEO or GM Level positions and has been a key member of these company’s strategic planning Boards.
On a personal level, Tom is on the board and a member of the finance committee for the Metrowest Free Medical Program and a board member of the Harvard Unitarian Universalist Church.
