The epipole team attended the EIE Investor Show, at the John McIntyre Conference Centre in Edinburgh this week, demonstrating the incredible advancements in retinal imaging with the award-winning video direct ophthalmoscope, the epiCam, to a room full of potential investors from around the world.
The EIE24 Event, hosted at the John McIntyre Conference Centre, Edinburgh
We proudly took our place alongside a wide range of enthusiastic exhibitors, all passionately talking about their own companies and products, and the impacts they are hoping to make on the world.
Throughout the event there were investors visiting the stands, asking questions, and really drilling down onto the specifics and details, searching for those really key opportunities where they can have a profound impact (along with potential commercial success!)
Just one of the incredible retinal images the team were able to capture with the epiCam, at the event itself, despite the bright exhibition hall lighting (!)
As a company exhibiting our cutting-edge technology in front of a room full of investors, it was a both stressful and exciting for the team – being grilled on every element of the products (performance, market opportunity, positioning, elevator pitch etc.) would potentially be a daunting task for some, but I am proud to report our team had trained (and practiced relentlessly!) to make sure they had all the answers – thanks in part to the preparation work afforded us by being part of the AIR program!
And, judging by the feedback received (and the opportunities already being discussed!), they did us all proud!
Because of the hard work of our team (including the brilliant engineering minds behind the scenes!), investors and attendees alike were impressed by the performance of our technology, and were interested and intrigued by our mission to ‘eradicate preventable blindness’. It was great seeing the energy and enthusiasm of the audience while discussing the potential of the epiCam to revolutionize the optometric industry all around the globe, and the team reported some potentially significant ideas and opportunities that sprung up of these conversations.
Sarah Jardine, epipole CEO spoke to us after the show:
“This was a really fabulous event! So many good networking opportunities, alongside some really fantastic sessions on the Scottish tech start-up ecosystem. Seeing how that landscape is evolving, as well as showcasing the amazing companies that are being established and are growing right here in Scotland, was really exciting, and it was great to be part of it.
The importance of the connections made at this event cannot be underestimated and we’re all looking forward to seeing how these relationships grow and develop with our business over the next few years.”

The day ended with an exclusive gala dinner, hosted at the impressive Dynamic Earth, which afforded even further networking opportunities, and a chance for a well-deserved celebration to end a long, but incredibly rewarding and productive day.

In summary, the EIE Investor Show not only provided us with a platform to showcase our technology but opened doors to a world of possibilities for us, and we’re already excited to see where they go in the immediate future, as well as looking forward to returning for EIE25!
See you next year! 🙌
